Sendong Victims Receive Condolences from US President Obama
No less than US President Barrack Obama has sent his condolences to Sendong victims.
In a statement issued by the White House, Obama extended his sympathies to the relatives of more than 1,000 who died during the flashfloods brought about the typhoon Sendong in parts of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan last weekend.
Here is an excerpt of the statement:
"On behalf of the American people, I wish to express my deep condolences for the tremendous loss of life and devastation caused by recent flooding in the Philippines. In the spirit of our long history of friendship and cooperation with the Philippines, the United States stands ready to assist the Philippine people and government should humanitarian assistance and recovery efforts be needed."
Aside from the United States, other countries and international organizations like Japan, Taiwan, Australia, the European Commission are also sending aid for Sendong victims.
