Floods in Mindanao which was brought about by tropical storm "Sendong" have killed around 500 people, according to online reports on Sunday.
The flashfloods also rendered 35,000 people homeless and now huddled in evacuation centers.
A 20,000 strong military force were sent by the government to help with the evacuation of the victims and recover more bodies from the cloying mud.
23 barangays were reportedly inundated by the overflowing Cagayan River which now put Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City under the State of Calamity.
