Criminal Cases Involving Minors, Probed by Ted Failon

As early as 12 years old, “John” was already involved in cases of robbery and by the time he turned 14, he was already a member of an ‘akyat-bahay’ gang.

Now that he is 17 years old, he has gotten in and out of the rehabilitation center for five times and continues to break the law whenever he gets the chance.

Under the Juvenile Act of 2006, minors can't go to jail for criminal offenses on the merit that they are still too young to judge if what they're doing is right.

“John” is only among the 3,856 reported criminal cases involving minors from January to July 2011.

With this alarming increase in juvenile cases, should the legislative branch of the government amend the law implemented on juvenile delinguents?

Don’t miss “Failon Ngayon,” anchored by Ted Failon, this Saturday (Oct 15), 4:45 PM, on ABS-CBN.
