Black Eyed Peas Announce the Group Will Take a Break
The Black Eyed Peas concert at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Manila on Tuesday night became a little emotional towards the end when Fergie announced that the group will take a break.
"Tonight's like graduation for us before we take a break," Stacie Ann Ferguson, a.k.a. Fergie, said before the group perform their hit song "I Gotta Feeling" in an extended encore.
Black Eyed Peas Filipino member Allan Pineda, a.k.a. apl.de.ap, said they are not splitting up as a group as their friendship can never be broken.
"We always have a cycle where we take a break and pursue our individual projects," Pineda said in an earlier interview.
Fergie, for her part, has been reported to be eager to start a family with her husband, actor Josh Duhamel.
The group hugged each other through their encore.
The Black Eyed Peas has been the most successful musical group in the first decade of the 21st century. They became one of only 11 artists to have simultaneously held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 and won numerous awards including 8 American Music Awards, 6 Grammy Awards and 3 World Music Awards.
