'Bahay Bata' Recognized in Vancouver Filmfest
Eduardo Roy Jr.’s "Bahay Bata" (Baby Factory) received a Special Mention honor at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) in Canada.
Aside from "Bahay Bata," Japanese film "Recreation" was also awarded special mention.
Meanwhile, the "Sun-Beaten Path from China" (Tibet) was awarded the Dragons and Tigers Award for Young Cinema which came with $10,000.
The jury is composed of British producer Simon Field, Chinese filmmaker Ann Hui and South Korean filmmaker Yang Ikjune.
Marlon Rivera’s Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and Vincent Sandoval’s Señorita also competed in the said festival.
Bahay Bata was in the new breed category of this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival. It starred Diana Zubiri and Sue Prado with the special participation of Yul Servo.
