Buwan ng Wika 2011 - 'Ang Filipino ay Wikang Panlahat, Ilaw at Lakas sa Tuwid na Landas'
August is National Language Month or "Buwan ng Wika" and this year's theme: “Ang Filipino ay wikang panlahat, ilaw at lakas sa tuwid na landas.”
The annual celebration led by the Department of Education (DepEd) aims to enhance the use of the Filipino language. To emphasize this year's team, schools across the country will hold various activities like search for lakan at mutya, sabayang pagbigkas, poetry writing contest, declamation contest, balagtasan etc. These activities are intended to impart to all students why the Filipino language is the light and strength of the nation.
"Buwan ng Wika" is divided into five parts:
Aug. 1 to 7 - the focus is by taking to heart the lyrics of the national anthem.
Aug. 8 to 14 - the highlight is on the importance of the national language in enforcing discipline that will lead to national development.
Aug. 15 to 21 - the theme is the use of language as an instrument to achieve freedom and justice.
Aug. 22 to 28 - the theme is “Wikang Filipino: Tugon sa malinaw na programa sa tuwid na landas.”
