Jorge Cariño Go Through a Minimum Wage Job in 'Krusada'
Jorge Cariño will clean street gutters and sewers for the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to experience how it is to live on minimum wage in “Krusada” tomorrow (May 3).
Jorge will show how many impoverished Filipinos struggle everyday by taking on the duties of a MMDA ‘kaminero’ or gutter cleaner and observing firsthand laborers in a steel factory.
“Their job seems really easy but if you were in their shoes, you’d have to be extra diligent and persevering,” said Jorge about his experience.
Join him as he discovers how workers are able to cope with the spiraling costs of basic commodities and provide for their families’ needs such as tuition fees and electricity and water bills.
A laborer for a private company earns a minimum wage of P426 a day. Is this enough to sustain a proper family life?
Because it takes more than words to take a stand, watch “Krusada,” the 2012 New York Festivals Bronze World Medalist in the Social Issues/Current Events category tomorrow (May 3) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m.
