Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez 4 in 2012?
Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time?
Manny Pacquiao may have to prepare for another bout with Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012 following his controversial victory last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
This was revealed by Mayweather's adviser, Leonard Ellerbe and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, that Pacquiao's promoter--Bob Arum--"is not interested in pursuing a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao at this time but instead pursuing a fourth Pacquiao-Marquez bout."
"If we want to do a rematch with Marquez, there is no reason to sit down with Mayweather. If we want to explore a Mayweather fight, we will sit down with them," Arum was quoted saying.
Arum firmly believes that Marquez was entitled to a rematch in May. After getting as much as $10 million for the last bout (pay-per-view income), Marquez is positioned to get at least that amount again.
But does Pacquiao really want any part of Marquez again after three tight fights?
Oscar De La Hoya, who helps promote unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., has an unsolicited advice to Manny Pacquiao. He said the time has come for Pacquiao to be more assertive in choosing his path, not leaving it entirely up to his promoter.
