Born This Way Foundation to be Launched by Lady Gaga this 2012
Born this Way is not just a self-empowerment song but come 2012, singer-songwriter Lady Gaga will launch the Born this Way foundation to empower youth and campaign against teen bullying and suicide
With the help of MacArthur Foundation and Harvard University, the Grammy-winning singer announced on Wednesday that she is launching the Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit organization focusing on youth empowerment and "issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development."
The foundation will be directed by Gaga herself and her mother Cynthia Germanotta with partners that include John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
Gaga released a statement regarding the Born this Way Foundation that goes:
"Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment."
The 25-year-old multiplatinum singer is planning to meet with President Barack Obama to discuss her concerns over bullying and discrimination against homosexuals.
Dr. Bob Ross, CEO and president of the California Endowment has all praises for Lady Gaga's advocacy.
"Lady Gaga will help empower and give voice to young people who find themselves overwhelmed, undersupported, disconnected, isolated, bullied or struggling. This brand of leadership is sorely needed in today's world," he said.
