Filipino-Irish Darren Criss Performs 'Hey Soul Sister' on Glee
Filipino-Irish Darren Criss and the Warblers (including Kurt!) perform Train's hit song "Hey Soul Sister."
Earlier this month, we were introduced to a new character on the hit tv series Glee and he is Blaine, portrayed by Filipino-Irish Darren Criss. Blaine is a gay student at Dalton Academy who becomes Kurt's mento and special friend.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy stated, "Darren has a major, major arc...He sort of becomes Kurt's mentor and then maybe love--he had to leave his own school because of bullying and goes to an all-boys academy and finds acceptance because that school has a no-bullying, zero-tolerance policy. So Kurt really admires him and respects him. He plays someone who's one year older than Chris' character, so he's the old pro."
The 23-year-old actor/singer-songwriter is perhaps best known for playing Harry Potter in A Very Potter Musical but now he is known to have the best-selling Glee track on iTunes. His cover of "Teenage Dream" by Katy Perry from the "Never Been Kissed" episode of Glee hit no. 1 on iTunes and became the best-selling Glee track ever.
In the November 30, 2010 episode of Glee titled "Special Education", Darren will cover "Hey Soul Sister" with Chris Colfer and the Warblers.
