2010 MMFF to Showcase 5 Indie Films
For the first time in the 36 years of the annual and much-anticipated filmfest, 5 indie films be highlighted in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
According to Atty. Francis Tolentino, the chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) which organizes the annual MMFF, five independent films will be shown in selected theaters from Dec. 16 to 21, a week before the actual film festival when 8 mainstream entries are scheduled to open on Christmas Day.
This move will surely help the growing industry of independent films in the country, some of which brought home honors from various international film festival abroad.
The 5 Indie Films to be screened as part of the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival are as follows:
SLOW FADE - Starring Diether Ocampo, Precious Lara Quigaman, Archie Adamos, Jaime Fabregas, Alchris Galura, Mosang, Alwyn Uytingco, Fonz Deza, Lui Manansala, Abel Napuran, Richard Manabat, Irene Tan-Gurango and German Moreno; Directed by: Rommel Sales (CLICK HERE TO WATCH TRAILER).
NASAAN SI HEFTE? - Starring Darryl Shaw, Anna Luna, Kenneth Go and Rommel Luna; Directed by Jonah Lim (CLICK HERE TO WATCH TRAILER).
PRESA - Starring Anita Linda, Jodi Sta. Maria-Lacson, Tetchie Agbayani, Liza Lorena, Daria Ramirez, Ina Feleo, Angeli Bayani, Cherry Madrigal and Rosanna Roces; Directed by: Adolfo Alix Jr.
RINDIDO - Starring Chanel Latorre, Vic Tiro, Banjo Romero, Jek Jumawan, Marlon Jarito and Lotlot Bernardo; Directed by Noriel Jarito.
SENIOR YEAR - Starring Dimples Romana, Ina Feleo, RJ Ledesma, Arnold Reyes, Che Ramos, LJ Moreno, Ramon Bautista, Daniel Medrana and Kalila Aguilos; Directed by Jerrold Tarog.
These five indie films are not in competition with the 8 mainstream films but they will receive special citations during the awards night. Furthermore, one entry will be given the award for achievement in technical excellence. The winner will receive a sponsorship from Fuji Film to convert the film into 35-millimeter format for showing during the regular commercial run after Jan. 7, 2011.
