Puerto Princesa Underground River Included in New7Wonders of Nature
Puerto Princesa Underground River, the Philippine entry to the New7Wonders of Nature, has been named one of the 7 provisional winners of the global poll at the N7W Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland after the first count of votes.
Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR), together with 6 other locations, have been declared as the 7 provisional winners based from the first count of the global poll for the New7Wonders of Nature. Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders at the headquarters of the New7Wonders Foundation in Switzerland made the announcement.
In alphabetical order, the 7 locations which garnered the most votes based from the first count since voting ended at November 11, 11:11 a.m. (GMT) are:
1. Amazon Rainforest – Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela
2. Halong Bay – Vietnam
3. Iguazu Falls – Argentina, Brazil
4. Jeju Island – South Korea
5. Komodo National Park – Indonesia
6. Puerto Princesa Underground River – Palawan, Philippines
7. Table Mountain – South Africa
The number of votes each locations have received has yet to be revealed because the poll results will still undergo a rigid validation and verification process before it becomes official. In early 2012, New7Wonders will then work with the confirmed winners to organize the Official Inauguration events.
