It's More Fun in the Philippines Because of Filipinos!
It's More Fun in the Philippines - this is the newest slogan of the Department of Tourism highlighting the ebullient nature of Filipinos in an attempt to draw more tourists in the country.
Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez says, "What differentiates the Philippines from other offerings is the Filipino."
The campaign aims to draw 4.2 million tourists for 2012 and 10 million by 2016 from only 3.7 million last year.
Despite of the country's beautiful beaches and diving, English-speaking people and cheap shopping, the Philippines lag way behind our Southeast Asian neighbors like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and even Vietnam and Indonesia when it comes to tourism.
To be at par with the said countries, the Department of Tourism's (DOT) "It's More Fun in the Philippines" campaign was presented at the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Indonesia on Friday, January 13, by Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr.
"ATF 2012 is a perfect platform to introduce to some 1,600 international delegates composed of buyers and sellers," Secretary Jimenez, Jr. said in a statement.
Also present at the DOT presentation were North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Harry Sarundajang, Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Maria Rosario Claudio Aguinaldo and Consul General Jose Burgos.
