Iglesia Ni Cristo Celebrates 97th Anniversary
Iglesia ni Cristo is the largest entirely indigenous Christian religious organization that originated from the Philippines and the largest independent church in Asia.
Felix Y. Manalo officially registered the church as a corporation sole with himself as executive minister on July 27, 1914 and because of this, most publications refer to him as the founder of the church.
Today, July 27, marks the 97th anniversary of Iglesia ni Cristo and it was declared a special national working holiday by virtue of Republic Act 9645 which then president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo approved on June 12, 2009.
