Pinay Postmaster holds world record for women's masters powerlifting
A Filipino lady powerlifter snatched four gold medals at the 2008 Asian Powerlifting Championships held in Uzbekistan, radio dzBB reported Wednesday.
Erlina "Lily" Pecante, the postmaster of Pasig Central Post Office, also broke the Asian Masters Record in benchpress by lifting 125 kilograms or 275 pounds.
Pecante, 43, was among 12 Filipino powerlifters who competed in the event organized by the Asian Powerlifting Federation.
In November last year, she got a gold in the under-90-kilogram class of the World Masters Powerlifting Championships in Ostrava in the Czech Republic
In the said competition, Pecante lifted 210 kilograms, surpassing her own squat world record of 200.5 kilograms. She also got four gold medals in the squat, bench press and deadlift categories.
Pecante has been with PhilPost for 25 years.
