Renowned boxers lined up in Pacquiao-Marquez undercard




While boxing fans around the world are looking forward to the most awaited rematch between Filipino icon Manny “Pacman" Pacquiao and World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on March 15 (March 16 RP time) in Las Vegas, there will be more reason for them get excited since the “Unfinished Business" will also have world renowned fighters in the undercard.


One of the fights of the undercard of the Pacquiao-Marquez II will have World Boxing Organization featherweight titleholder Steven Luevano, who will have a mandatory title defense against WBO No.1 contender Terdsak Jandaeng of Thailand.

Luevano has a record of 34 wins 1 loss with 15 knockouts and has never been knocked out in his entire career. He suffered his lone defeat from International Boxing Federation No.6 Martin Honorio of Mexico in 2005.

Tough foe

Jandaeng is a tough fighter with 29 wins and 2 losses with 19 knockouts. One of his defeats was from Mexican champ Marquez and the other from WBO junior lightweight titlist Joan Guzman.

Another well known boxer seeing action will be WBC lightweight kingpin David “Diaz, one of the prospect Pacquiao opponent, who will face Manny’s sparring partner Ramon Montano in a 10 round non-title bout.

Diaz is fresh from a seven-month layoff from the ring, with his last fight against the legendary Erik Morales in which he won via unanimous decision.

Prince

He has a 33-1-1 record with 17 knockouts, while his Mexican counterpart has a 14-3-2 record.

The North American Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Abner Mares will lay his title on the line against the warrior from Davao City Diosdado “Prince" Gabi.

Mares has an unscathed record of 15 wins with 9 knockouts and is currently ranked No.3 in WBO, No.9 in IBF and No.11 in WBA. On the other hand Gabi, who has also fought and lost to Marquez, has 30 wins, 3 losses and one draw and is ranked No.15 in the WBC. - Sun.Star
