Pinay Mom Neneth Lyons Gets Standing Ovation from 'The X Factor UK' Judges
Neneth Lyons, a Filipina living in the UK and married to a Briton, impressed all the judges and audience of "The X Factor UK" which aired on Sunday, September 13, after she performed Barbara Streisand’s “Somewhere” from the iconic musical West Side Story as her audition piece.
Judges Thoughts:
Nick Grimshaw said “Wow, I loved it. Initially I was drawn in by your nerves then you came alive. It was amazing.”
Cheryl Fernandez-Versinin said “Wow. The whole auditorium was all focused while you are delivering that song. The audience were drawn in… that was a stunning performance.”
Rita Ora said “You can never judge a book by its cover. If your daughter can speak, she would say ‘that’s my mum on that stage’.”
Simon Cowell said: “When the song started I thought it was a big dated but then I thought, ‘Who cares? you’re a brilliant singer. I think people will love you a lot.”
According to reports, Neneth worked as a singer in bars and hotels in Hong Kong and China where she met her husband. They have been married for 10 years. The 36-year-old singer is now a full-time mom in Chelmsford, England.
