Karen Davila Pushes for Proper Education in 'Krusada'

Despite apprehensions and complaints from some Filipino parents, the Department of Education proceeded with the implementation of the Universal Kindergarten this school year in all public schools.

In this program, children are required to get kindergarten education first before entering grade 1. This is part of DepEd’s K+12 or Kindergarten plus 12 years education curriculum, which was intended to bring back if not improve the quality of education in the country.

Still, many people are asking if adding more years in school is really the proper answer to the nation’s woes in education, especially because this would also mean additional financial burden for Filipino families, which are already affected by the country’s struggling economy.

This Thursday (June 16) on “Krusada,” “Bandila” and “Headstart” anchor Karen Davila will let us into the stories of two families, where every member is doing all possible things just so the children get to school.

Find out in her report how valuable basic education is to every young Filipino and whether the government is ready to fund the program they have started.

After all, the capability of poor families to meet the requirements of DepEd’s new program isn’t the only thing to be considered. The government also has to answer the lack of teachers.

Karen believes that not only should the Filipino youth be given proper education, teachers should also be given the compensation they deserve.

Because it takes more than words to make a stand, listen, take part, and join in the fight of Karen Davila in “Krusada” this Thursday (June 16), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
