34th Gawad Urian - 2011 Winners Revealed
The Cebuano Indie film “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” (The Dream of Eleuteria) bags 4 Gawad Urian trophies including Best Director and Best Picture.
Last year, "Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria" was the Jury Prize winner in Cinema One Originals. And recently, it was chosen to receive the Special Jury Prize Award in the International Competition Section of the Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea.
And now, the Cebuano indie film bagged the highest honor--the Best Picture award--at the 34th Gawad Urian Tuesday night. The film also won in three other categories: Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Director for Remton Siega Zuasola.
Fe GingGing Hyde won Best Actress for "Sheika" while International Emmy Awards nominee Sid Lucero was named Best Actor for the gay-themed movie "Muli."
Rosanna Roces, on the other hand, bagged the Best Supporting Actress plum for "Presa" while Joem Bascon was awarded Best Supporting Actor for "Noy."

Gawad Urian also presented the 10 Best Films of the Decade: "Tuhog" (2000), "Batang Westside" (2001), "Babae Sa Breakwater" (2003), "Magnifico" (2003), "Ebolusyon ng Isang Pamilyang Pilipino" (2004), "Ang Pagdadalaga Ni Maximo Oliveros" (2005), "Kubrador" (2006), "Serbis" (2008), "Kinatay" (2009), "Lola" (2009);.
Coco Martin was named Aktor ng Dekada while Gina Pareño and Cherry Pie Picache were tied for Gawad Urian Aktres ng Dekada.
Natatanging Gawad was given to scriptwriter Jose F. Lacaba.
Cesar Montano, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Butch Francisco served as hosts for this year's ceremony.
