Danica Magpantay from the Philippines wins Ford Supermodel of the World 2011
Our very own Danica Flores Magpantay won the 2011 Ford Supermodel of the World competition, held in New York City this Saturday.
Danica became the first ever Filipina and second Asian beauty to win the prestigious pageant which was conceptualized in 1981. The first Asian country to bag the title was South Korea in 2008.
The 2011 edition was held last Saturday, January 22, in New York City where Danica bested more than 70 contestants from all over the world who vied for the title including Lithuania, Poland, Brazil and Estonia who ended as runner ups.
Aside from the title, Danica won a $250,000 modeling contract with Ford Models.
She is the daughter of Supermodel of the World Philippines 1990 winner Milagros "Lala" Flores.

ReplyDeletei was able to watch the contest when Melanie Marquez almost won the title, unfortunately, the fashion world was not yet ready for Asian beauty. Danica is fortunate to have won this time, timing is really the king when it comes to pageant and beauty contests.
