ABS-CBN Named ‘Outstanding TV Station’ at the 17th VACC Awards
ABS-CBN was recognized as the ‘Outstanding TV Station’ for 2014-2015 by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) at its 17th awards ceremony on July 3, 2015.
The awards were given on the 17th anniversary celebration of VACC, a non-profit organization that aims to fight crime and promote justice in the country. It holds an annual awards ceremony to recognize different entities for their commitment to eradicate criminality and corruption and assist crime victims.
VACC also honored broadcast journalist and The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) “Balitang Global” anchor Henry Omaga-Diaz as ‘Outstanding TV News Reporter’ while DZMM’s “Dos Por Dos,” hosted by Gerry Baja andAnthony Taberna, was recognized as the ‘Outstanding Teleradyo Program’ award. DZMM Radyo Patrol reporter Noel Alamar, meanwhile, was named ‘Outstanding Radio Reporter’ by the organization.
Special awards were also handed out to ABS-CBN’s flagship AM station, DZMM (Radio Station category), “Failon Ngayon” (Anti-Corruption campaign), “SOCO” (Teleradyo Program), Dexter Ganibe (Radio Reporter), and Gus Abelgas (Television News Anchor). Atom Araullo, Jorge Cariño, Jeck Batallones, Jeff Canoy, Ron Gagalac, Dominic Almelor, and Doland Castro were also given special citations for the ‘Television Reporter’ category.
