'Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo' Wins MMFF 2014 Best Picture
The action historical epic Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo was the most awarded film at the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival awards night, reaping nine major awards including the most coveted Best Picture prize.
Commended by critics and fans alike for its high-quality production ‘Bonifacio’ won technical and special awards for Cinematography (Carlo Mendoza), Sound Engineer (Wild Sound), Musical Score (Von de Guzman), Original Theme Song (Hindi Pa Tapos composed and performed by Gloc 9) and Best Float.
Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, a film that brings to light the powerful, true-to-life story of Filipino revolutionary Andres Bonifacio, unfolding through the eyes of the youth, took home the Youth Choice Award and the prestigious Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award. The historical movie also received the Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence, a recognition bestowed to the film that upholds nationalism and depicts characters that fight for the poor and the disadvantaged.

“Pero higit sa mga mga [awards] mahalaga sa amin na maibahagi ang napaka makabuluhang kwentong ito. Sana mas marami pang tao lalo na ang mga kabataan na makapanood [ng pelikulang ito].”
Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo has been graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board. It’s now playing in cinemas nationwide.
