Young Pinoy is Finalist in Canada's 'The Next Star'
Young Filipino-Canadian Darren Espanto is currently getting the buzz after his impressive performance in the Canadian reality singing competition for teens, "The Next Star."
The 11-year-old Espanto performed Rihanna's "Only Girl in the World" during the last elimination round of "The Next Star" where he made it as one of the Top 13. The judging panel which is composed of R&B singer Keisha Chante, country diva Tara Oram and music industry executive Mark Spicoluk were all impressed with the young Pinoy's voice but advised him to “put a little more stage presence” in his next performances.
Espanto, whose parents are from Nueva Vizcaya, made it as one of the 7 finalists who will vie for the title, a two-song deal with Sony Music and $5,000 in shopping money courtesy of Sears. The finale of the show is happening on September23, 2012.
