'Asian Air Safari' 7th Season Airs on ANC

Discover and experience Africa from the unique perspective of a real life pilot in the newest and seventh season of flying adventure and travel show, “Asian Air Safari” beginning on July 22, Sunday, on ANC.

Host and producer Capt. Joy Roa will take viewers past popular tourist spots by immersing in the wild, culture, people, sights, and cuisine of the most exotic locations in the continent and showing spectacular vistas that can only be seen from the skies.

“Asian Air Safari,” the only aviation and travel-adventure show in Asia, has transported viewers to the most popular and unusual locales in 150 cities in 38 countries across all continents, except Antarctica for a total of 86 episodes, including the new eight episodes of season 7.

When asked to name three unpopular destinations overlooked by travelers, Roa said it would be the Pacific side of northern Luzon for its nice beaches and coastline, the atoll islands between Zamboanga and Jolo that are better than Maldives, and Bugsuk Island.

Roa, a well-loved and influential figure in the aviation industry with 34 years of experience, also revealed that aside from Africa, the new season will present features of his multi-continental adventures, including cross country flights, a stopover in New Delhi, a helicopter race against motorcycle riders from Manila to Laoag, and a tour on Oshima Island, Japan. He also flew a brand new Phenom 300 jet with stops in Kuala Lumpur and Bali, before landing in Perth, Australia.

“Flying on my own makes the world smaller and allows me to accomplish more by saving a lot of time. Traveling enables me to deepen my understanding of the world through seeing the great structures and monuments made throughout the history of different cultures,” said Capt. Joy, who is also the organizer of the annual Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.

An inspiration to aviation and travel enthusiasts, Capt. Joy hopes to impart his passion for flying and encourage viewers to explore the Philippines and rally for the improvement of the country’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.

“In our show, we make a conscious effort to reveal the often overlooked places and make known how important it is for the country to recognize their potential and invest in developing it,” he said.

Capt. Joy has made aviation to be his show's advocacy after observing that the industry was in bad shape and needed to be given attention. "We were hoping to show the numerous contributions of aviation to the country's economy and encourage the new generation of aviators to start their careers early," he said.

Check out the world’s most breathtaking destinations without leaving the comfort of your homes from Capt. Joy Roa in “Asian Air Safari,” Sundays, 8:30 p.m. starting July 22 on ANC.
