“Rosario”, Studio5?s entry to 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last December is now getting an international recognition despite being snubbed by local award giving bodies.
The Jennylyn Mercado-starrer made it to the list of niminees in the “Best Film” and “Best Director” categories of the upcoming 14th Shanghai Film Festival which is happening on June 11-19, 2011.
Albert Martinez will be competing against 9 other Asian directors for the event’s biggest attraction – the Asia New Talent Award (ANTA).
Aside from Albert, another Filipino director – Sheron Dayoc – also made it to the list for his indie film “Halaw” (Ways of the Sea).
This year’s Shanghai Film Festival will also be giving away the event’s biggest prize – “The Golden Goblet” – which is being contested by 1,519 films from 102 countries.
